Good to hear that Canada's biggest cricket province wants to give its players more exposure to international cricket through tours. However, this needs to be integrated into the national program with Cricket Canada and OCA working together. We should see OCA tours used as stepping stones into the National Championships (Inter-provincials) which lead to selection to Canada 'A' and finally to the men's national team.

As far as the OCA website, we hear more news out of Nova Scotia Cricket Association. We definitely need more information from Ontario. Best of luck.

Lots of blame to go around that the Canadian cricket community could not organize itself to take on this challenge. Failure to organize and political infighting were amongst the major causes for this. The ICC must also step up and make it more financially viable for Associate members to host the U19 World Cup.

However, as with much of what Townsend writes, you have to decide for yourself what to believe:

The ICC forced the U19 World Cup on Canada? It may have given Canada the right of first refusal but Canada Cricket were always in a position to decline. We should be glad we were given this opportunity. Sadly, we could not accept.

Hosting the 2001 ICC Trophy bankrupted the old CCA? True enough. However, Canada only just qualified for the 2003 ICC World Cup. Had the qualifier been played in another country it would have been even harder to qualify. Where our men's national team is today (top 6 Associate, 3 World Cups, hundreds of thousands of $ from ICC) has much to do with hosting the ICC Trophy in 2001. Sometimes you have to take a chance.

Canada spent $250000 of its own money preparing for the 2007 WC? Really? Where did they get that kind of money if not from the ICC? All the more reason CC's financial books should be more open.

I am excited to learn about this event being pace bowler, but please sir(Mike, Kendall) provide these services free of cost. Many talented players are not utilising these these camps as they can't afford them. Please do consider my request.
Thank You.
